Important Information

Confidentiality

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) protects the relationship between a client and therapist. In order to disclose your personal health information (PHI), there must be written permission.  This includes diagnosis, notes, treatment plans and bills. The privacy of your PHI will be through HIPAA regulations. Exceptions to this include:

  • suspected abuse

  • threats of serious bodily harm or property damage to another

  • intent to harm him/herself

Should these exceptions take place, it is required by the State of CT to notify DCF, the police, or other appropriate authorities to ensure the safety of the client and/or others involved.

Referrals

Should it be deemed that our services are no longer supportive and that a higher level of care is necessary, a referral will be made to the appropriate facility or physician and our services will be discontinued.
